Production Issues Could Delay 5.5-Inch iPhone 6 Until Late 2014 or Even 2015

Apple is facing production issues with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 which could delay the device until late 2014 or even 2015, reports KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

We think the 5.5-inch model will also have issues with the yield rate of in-cell touch panel and color unevenness of metal casing. Indeed, these problems will likely be even more complicated with a larger size. In addition, from a technical perspective, we don’t expect sapphire cover, used for the first time on the 5.5-inch model, will easily pass the drop test near term.

We are conservative about 5.5-inch iPhone launching by end-2014. Even if the product is launched in 2014, it is likely to take place after mid-4Q14, which is later than the September-October of consensus, with shipments being lower than consensus of 15- 20mn units.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6 in September. Recently, there have been numerous leaks of what appears to be a sapphire glass front panel for the device. The glass has held up remarkably to various stress tests.

Most of the leaks we've seen thus far have been for the 4.7-inch device which may corroborate reports that the 5.5-inch device will be released at a later date. Apple is expected to order iPhone 6 units at an unprecedented level with the company's first batch numbering at least 68 million units. Could't care less. Just release the damn phone. 4 inch is big enough. My beloved Apple is going down the drain. Miss you Steve. 4,7 is too big. 5.5 is just stupid.

Hummm yeah, I hear your point. It is sad in a way. I doubt iClarified is just one guy though. If you're just one guy, you CAN run a blog, and update on your time and dedication for less than $100 a year. If all you post are blogs with few pictures, the traffic should not amount to a large sum. BUT, like most blogs, you need constant refresh of your content to stay popular, and that costs money (site costs increases due to traffic, content may become costly by either buying articles or hiring staff for example). That's when you need to generate revenue from sponsors/advertisers. In their case, I think it's a question of greed. I can't imagine their operations to cost that much. They got a taste of success and now they want more though, thinking they are soooo good, that they're the shit. time will tell if I will get bored/tired of the ads/loose interest. I still come once in a while for now. Public decides the faith of such sites. Stop coming if you feel it's too much. Those trends have an impact. You have the choice (and choice isn't lacking in this type of blogs/news site). But, for having worked in advertising, selling Google AdWords and Bing Ads, this type is by far the worst, and I agree as to why people hate it, why they are up and why it sometimes work. I still don't like them myself neither. It sucks.

Rain111, you can't block on a per site basis can you? There's plenty of sites with just a small amount of ads that I don't mind seeing. When well done, the ads are pertinent and may interest me. I don't want to block ALL of them. I would like to just block the ads on some sites like this one, where it's just too f'n much.

Yet. People have long waited for this to prove their patience, but for me I waited for a slightly bigger screen which is 4".
