Apple is Working on an Amazon Echo Competitor and Preparing to Release a Siri SDK [Report]

Apple is working on an Amazon Echo competitor and preparing to release a Siri SDK, according to a new report from The Information.

After debating for years about how to do so, the company will finally open Siri up to work with apps made by others. To provide this functionality, Apple will release a software developer kit (SDK), according to a source with direct knowledge. It's possible that the SDK could be unveiled as soon as WWDC next month, alongside the rumored launch of Siri for Mac.

In addition, Apple is said to be working on a hardware device that would rival the Amazon Echo. Amazon's hands free speaker with built-in Alexa personal assistant has been a big success for the company. Steve Wozniak even called it the 'The Next Big Platform'. Just a few days ago, Google unveiled its own competitor to the Echo, dubbed 'Google Home' but it doesn't ship until later this year.

Apple's device is said to feature a speaker and microphone that people can use to turn on music, get news headlines or set a timer. It's not clear if the device will shown off at WWDC but you can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

If you're reffering to the 6s, the camera is easily the hugest upgrade. A new iPhone isn't without big upgrades.

Wow clearly I triggered a fanboy, no little iSheep what I meant was that in comparison to Android or really any other tech company, Apple is not usually open to releasing SDK's, API's, and really any sort of open source code about its operating system, it's very locked down. Don't get me wrong I own a 6s, MacBook Pro, etc it's just that I find it amusing that Apple is turning out to be just like Blackberry, I fear that in a few years Apple will disappear just like Blackberry had while all these other companies surpass them with their open source SDK's and source code and customizable OS's. This was the first year a company was able to surpass Apple and the iPhone 7 doesn't look like it's going to be any better (I'm referring to the amazing Galaxy S7 edge that I am always jealous over)

Triggered a fanboy? iSheep? All I was questioning is what you're reffering to, but I doubt apple will become the new blackberry when the iPad Pro is doing well against the rest, the 6s is doing moderately okay and still sells well if not better than last iPhones even with stock drops or not, and the usual for Macs, they always get better besides keeping them up to date in terms of processors, but blackberry is blackberry because they're old and sticking to the that generation that nearly almost the entire world moved on to (I say that because there's still a <.1% who still uses them). I'm not trying to correct you or anything, just heads up.
