The Next Generation iPhone is 'A Big F**king Deal and Will Change This Industry Deeply'

The much anticipated tenth anniversary iPhone will be an industry changing device, according to a new report from Robert Scoble.

We've heard from several sources that Apple is working on a massive update to its next generation device that will feature an all glass design. It will purportedly have a front glass cover and chassis, joined by a metal bezel and an edge-to-edge display that has no bezels on the top and bottom. Additionally, the front camera, Touch ID, speaker, and other sensors will apparently be embedded into the display.

Scoble's sources add more details to the picture...

The next iPhone will be, I am told, a clear piece of glass (er, Gorilla Glass sandwich with other polycarbonates for being pretty shatter resistant if dropped) with a next-generation OLED screen (I have several sources confirming this). You pop it into a headset which has eye sensors on it, which enables the next iPhone to have a higher apparent frame rate and polygon count than a PC with a Nvidia 1080 card in it. Thanks to foveated rendering.

Scoble believes the clear iPhone will put holograms on top of the real world. Additionally, the headset's eye sensors will bring a new type of user interface.

Apple is reportedly equipping the device with a new sensor developed by the Primesense team.

The phone itself has a next-generation 3D sensor from Primesense, which Apple bought. Apple has 600 engineers working in Israel on just the sensor. It's the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. It's the first product introduction in Apple's new amazing headquarters. It's a big f**king deal and will change this industry deeply. It'll get rid of the HTC Vive lighthouse system, too.

Most of the chips and components that make up the phone will be placed in a pack/strip at the bottom of the phone, says Scoble. The battery and antennas will be hidden around the edges of the screen.

There is a lot more detail in Scoble's full report linked below. He suggests that Facebook should make a deal with Apple to get in on what may a huge shift towards mixed reality and likens Apple's entry to this world to IBM's entry to personal computing.

It is not cost effective to wait three years. To get a good price for your old iPhone, you must sell at least every two years. Besides, the phone after next year's model will surely be that much better than next year's model, and vastly better than this year's model.

Like every news about a new iphone, "it's said..." that it will be a ground f*****g breaker, but it never happens.

I agree! I doubt this will be a big change. And wait for the line "this is the greatest iphone we have ever build" in the keynote

It did happen once; the original iPhone was a big f***ing deal. I wouldn't be surprised if the next iPhone is also a big f***ing deal. [Of course, I also wouldn't be surprised if it isn't]
