myTaxiControl has announced the release of myTaxiControl 1.1a for iOS. It is fair to say that taxi passengers are in a very weak position compared to the drivers: they don't know the applicable tariff, have no idea about the shortest route, are not informed about existing flat rates for common trips and have no basis to negotiate a flat rate.

myTaxiControl inverts this situation totally as it puts the passenger in control. The amount of unjustified taxi fares paid by travelers around the world is certainly horrendously high, year in year out. This app has the potential to save billions on taxi fares.

Why trust the taximeter when you can now bring-your-own? myTaxiControl knows the applicable tariff for every weekday at each time of the day - no user input is required. Tariffs can be structured in a very complex manner, and the app is able to manage this. A fare composed of time and distance elements, even when having amount or distance thresholds are no problem. Waiting mode calculation is covered as well.


The app connects to a central database with currently 150 cities or areas worldwide. The database continues to grow and under certain conditions app users can request having a city or an area added to it. Should there be a problem with a specific tariff, the app user can send an immediate feedback and the database will be updated as quickly as possible.

Possibly one of the most useful features is to give the passenger information on how and where he can complain should there have been a problem on a taxi trip. (Information might not be available for all cities in the database). The user can generate documentation for his complaint by printing out the graphical view of the trip and/or the raw data of the trip in XML format.

The app allows a taxi to be called from within the app. For all cities, the major taxi companies are listed with name, phone number and website link. Taxi companies have the possibility to contact us if they want to be listed on the first position within the app. It is likely that the company listed on the first position will be the one that will be called the most frequently.

myTaxiControl helps the passenger with useful information on tipping practice, specific behavior rules (in most cases supplied by a link to a website), extras to be paid for luggage, extra persons, animals, etc.


There's no need for an open Internet connection when the user has loaded all tariffs on the device beforehand. Roaming charges will be avoided that way.
