Dana Innovations has announced LaunchPort, the world's first inductive charging and mounting system for iPad 2.

LaunchPort goes where no iPad 2 accessory has gone before and changes the way people use iPad 2s in their homes. "We wanted to turn the idea of mounting and charging an iPad 2 anywhere, bring it to life, and allow anyone to have access to it," explains Derick Dahl, Product Manager at iPort. "LaunchPort raises the bar in consumer inductive charging technology by offering consumers the first mass produced 5v 2.1 amp induction circuit.

LaunchPort PowerShuttle ($149.00)
The LaunchPort PowerShuttle for iPad 2 is a sleeve-style, soft touch black case. It securely holds the iPad 2 and is used to mount to either the BaseStation and/or WallStation. It has a built-in wave guide for the iPad 2 speaker that allows the sound to be directed back at you for a better media experience. It's equipped with a Mini USB port for charging and syncing on the go. Because the PowerShuttle contains magnets, you can also mount it to any metallic surface.

LaunchPort BaseStation ($199.00)
The BaseStation allows you to mount your iPad 2 to a table top to use and charge. The induction mounting and charging node provides a connection point for a PowerShuttle. Made of brushed aluminum, the BaseStation looks great with all your Apple products.

LaunchPort WallStation ($199.00)
The LaunchPort WallStation provides a home for your iPad 2 on the wall. It securely mounts and charges your iPad 2 using a LaunchPort PowerShuttle. The WallStation was designed so that anyone can install one in their home. The WallStation uses inductive charging and magnetic mounting, providing effortless mounting and charging, without wires. You can even rotate iPad 2 360 degrees while connected to your WallStation. The LaunchPort WallStation transforms your wall into an information center, gallery, video conferencing center, or whatever else you can imagine.

LaunchPort goes on sale today via LaunchPort.com

This is how you ruin your iPad battery by charging it it off and on without depleting the battery all the way. It looks cool but not practical

This isn't the year 1999 batteries don't die out because you charge them without first depleting the battery anymore... It is in fact more harmful to constantly deplete the battery and then charge it, as you would be quickly gathering full charge cycles making the battery last less... You should, however, let an electronic device lose all of its battery once a month, so that the lower end of the battery gets some use.
