Apple Refunds Purchases of Its 'GameStore' App

Apple has begun processing refunds for those who purchased its internal 'GameStore' app which was accidentally released on the App Store.

In an email to customers Apple said the app was released prematurely.

You recently purchase the GameStore app. The app was made available for sale prematurely. We apologize for the problem and have refunded the purchase amount back to your account. These funds will be applied to your original payment method within 5 business days.


Considering the June 2009 date associated with the app, it seems more likely that it was used to test in-app purchases and was never intended for release.
