A designer - March 24, 2012 at 2:58am
Lol I love the rants, but put the shape and style of the phones aside, the apps... If they really wanted to seperate themselves from apple... Why in the hell are Thier apps square, why not make circle apps, like a button. Just my thought on it. A complete copy.

In what way is your phone american? The screen is most probably made by samsung, RAM is samsung and probably hundreds of other components are made by samsung, the same company that you are accusing of copying you phone. Without them your phone would have never existed. The phone is made in China or some other third world country using slave labour. Is that what you call American? Are you so proud of that? The people that designed it are probably immigrants from other countries. That phone never saw a day of life in US until you decided to buy it.

Holy crap. Really? It's a phone. How different could it be? The ear speaker placement is where human physiology demands it should be. The screen is on the front so we can see what's going on. The microphone is on the bottom where the human mouth is. It's rectangularly (?) shaped because that's the standard shape for every video screen in the world. There are buttons on the side because we need buttons. Who copied who? Should they make the phones triangular or circular just to be different? What can really be done? Maybe I'm not creative enough to see the truth of how Samsung can create a radically different phone.

Oh, please... Don't be an ignorant b@stard! Before the iPhone, NOTHING came EVEN CLOSE to the design of the 1st iPhone. After its release and its trend-setting design, both in terms of hardware and software design, ALL smartphones made by the rest if the makers, 'all of the sudden' started looking more or less the same. Now, the Samsung Galaxy just took a step ahead of the rest of the copies; It copied SO shamelessly the iPhone, that it even included the frontal 'metal frame'. If you seriously cannot differentiate your shallow and childish concept with real-world proofs and facts, then you're better off to your own little planet and leave these matters to be discussed and handled by adults...

Lol. It's natural. If it wasn't apple it would have been somebody else. This type of phone in terms of design and functionality was eventual. We're phones supposed to be big bricks forever if not for apples designers? No. Apples happen to be in my opinion the best of the bunch. Of course they were the first in terms of materials used and true real world functionality. However if not them then someone else. The phone is basically designed around the screen and the screen has its approximate proportions based on common sense and ergonomics. This exact type of device was eventual. Everything else such as bevel and materials used are finite and repetition is to be expected. Why does it really matter? I like the iPhone for its usability more than what it looks like, not that it hurts that it's so damn pretty.

RantGT - Apple wasn't the first to release a Smartphone of this design, LG Prada was the first and the iPhone is a copy of that!
ratGT - March 24, 2012 at 12:11pm
@Budsal --- Ok, now you sound more sensible and less ignorant! You are right NOW at most points, but you'll let me make an exception specifically with the first Samsung Galaxy... That exact copy of the 'metal frame' was like breaking and stealing a store front, with the palm of your hads covered in fresh dripping paint!...
ratGT - March 24, 2012 at 12:37pm
@Lmao --- WTF is wrong with you, wondering around all articles and posting all this psycho-nonsense about LG Prada? Did you loose your virginity while talking to a Prada? Was that piece of shit THAT important to you? Well, unlike you, I happend to own a Prada back then for 2 days - Yeah, that's right! That's how long I managed to stand that shame of technology! --- And if you have problems following adult discussions or you've learned your English through porn movies, then I advice to stay off web sites such as this one. Otherwise you would have realized that Samsung copied everything from the round curves and the metal frame, to the icons and the dots that indicate what page you've swiped to! What has Apple copied from that huge shitty black brick, that had those huge ugly wireframe icons and was only operated poorly by the keyboard or that hit-or-miss, single-touch screen that barely worked only when using that lipstick-looking stylus that was hanging from the side of the phone? Kiddo, please! Spare your childish comment for the Nickelodeon forums...

@ratGT aka Mr. Spock - Thank you for allowing that I am somewhat less ignorant than you had previously thought. Have a nice day.
Hary - March 24, 2012 at 10:40pm
@ratGT - Nice to know that idiots like you still exist in this world, what future is there for mankind.
boreddrummer - March 25, 2012 at 1:31am
So ignorant for someone acting so self righteous. I hear the estate of Philo Farnsworth is sueing Panasonic aswell, he came up with this ground breaking product that redefined everything, then Panasonic, Sony, all these ripoff merchants just started piggy backing off his creation, I mean, how have they even got away with it for so long, SUE THEM, SUE THEM ALL. Seriously though, look at televisions, computer monitors, half of them look the same, doesn't mean there's copyright infringements left right and center because of design theft, yes Apple created a product that spawned a new catagory in mobile technology completely, credit to them, but everyone has to follow suit, what do you want them to do, "no no, we'll stand aside, the capacitive touchscreen smartphone was your idea in fairness, so you should get to monopolise the market", you moron, of course people will take that same winning formula and run with it, but it doesn't mean any phone with a big screen, button at the bottom etc. is a design ripoff. Besides anyone can see it's not a design ripoff, apart from apple bumboys apparently, you all analyse the picture like the OS is part of the hardware's design, that has nothing to do with the designer, disassociate the two, or actually look at a samsung galaxy and you can see it's not a "blatent ripoff"
boreddrummer - March 25, 2012 at 1:37am
ratGT - Either your around 20 and think you're an intellectual adult, when in actual fact you are still nothing more than an ignorant uneducated child, or (even worse) you're not 20, and you really are just thick as shit. Someone get this guy an iDildo.
boreddrummer - March 25, 2012 at 1:40am
p.s. : "What has Apple copied from that huge shitty black brick, that had those huge ugly wireframe icons and was only operated poorly by the keyboard or that hit-or-miss, single-touch screen that barely worked only when using that lipstick-looking stylus that was hanging from the side of the phone?" you're talking about hardware performance and software, not the design of the hardware you silly little infant
ratGT - March 25, 2012 at 4:16pm
@Hary --- You claim I'm an idiot, while not explaining why... Classic indication of a retarded brain that cannot contradict itself intellectually, therefore relies on swear-words deriving from disturbed puberty...
ratGT - March 25, 2012 at 4:33pm
@boreddrummer --- Surprising that someone with the username "boreddrummer" is judging my age and intellectuality, just to finalize his post with a high interest in my sexual life by suggesting me to get myself a dildo --- Sounds to me like a perfect time in your life to leave your mother's basement and your Second Life/Sims characters on your computer and spend some of that weekly allowance money at a local prostitute that is experienced at deflorising 30 year old virgins! Seems like that overflowing testosterone has really damaged and confused your brain son!...
boreddrummer - March 26, 2012 at 5:11pm
@ratGT That's a lovely rant full of (very inaccurate) conjecture but strangely I see no defense of your idiocy. There's no further debate to be had here when you can't even distinguish the design of a phone from an operating system, you look silly enough as it is.
ratGT - March 26, 2012 at 9:47pm
@boreddrummer --- I can't really tell you that I get any kind of comfort in you finding my comments lovely, nor do I defend my intellectuality when I confront myself in ineffectual discussions with futile specimens of humanity such as you. Just that you introduced the word "iDildo" into our discussion, should enough for me to realize the paradox of my attempts to infuse sense into your desecrated brain... - - - PS. My references "huge shitty black brick", "operated poorly by the keyboard" and "worked only when using that lipstick-looking stylus that was hanging from the side of the phone" should be enough to indicate my opinion about LG Pada's Hardware Design. Once again, it's not your fault. It's your unproductive defense mechanism that hinders you from coping with average social interactions...

of course it's not a copy. it's a clone gone wrong.
