Estimates Show Samsung Leading Smartphone Sales Race

Posted July 16, 2012 at 8:45pm by iClarified
Analysts estimate that Samsung has increased its lead over Apple and Nokia during the second quarter due to strong demand of the Galaxy S III.

Although Samsung and Apple have been neck-and-neck for several quarter, analysts expect the Samsung Galaxy S III and other samsung devices to sell around 50 million devices in Q2. Apple is expected to sell 30.5 million iPhones. It is important to note that iPhone sales usually do slow down when the next iPhone is rumored to be released.

IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo believes that "Samsung is expected to be the smartphone hero in the second quarter. We are also expecting to see the biggest smartphone volumes ever shipped from one single vendor in one quarter, driven by strong demand of the Galaxy portfolio, particularly the Galaxy S II and S III."

Samsung is estimated to have sold 15.7 million more phones than Nokia in the second quarter as well.

The data don't take into account of the ubtold secret that carriers nearly have to mortgage their companies in order to be able to have our iPhone. On the average, we make more twice per phone we sell than Samsung makes ontheir flagship model. Yet consumers in the US only see the $199 subsidized price. I intend to keep it that way since I have posted here before that our partners already have a hard time meeting production demands. Of course carriers would like to recuperate their subsidies faster by pushing Samsung products. For now they can't because I have a litigation against the plagiarized products. If they settle with me on royalties, I will even make more per iPhone against their shrinking margin. Who's smarter now?
