The iPhone 5 Has 1GB of RAM

Posted September 16, 2012 at 2:42am by iClarified
It's been confirmed that the iPhone 5 has 1GB of 1066MHz RAM, reports AnandTech.

Apple thankfully didn't obscure the details of its A6 slide at the launch event, which gave us a Samsung part number: K3PE7E700F-XGC2. Through crafty navigation of Samsung's product guide, Brian Klug got us the details. The K3P tells us we're looking at a dual-channel LPDDR2 package with 32-bit channels. The E7E7 gives us the density of each of the two DRAM die (512MB per die, 1GB total). The final two characters in the part number give us the cycle time/data rate, which in this case is 1066MHz.

According to the site's calculations that gives about 33% more peak memory bandwidth than the iPhone 4S which can be used to feed the faster GPU and drive the larger display.

Take a look at the chart below...

I just bought the S3... was a huge Apple fan and im glad i switched for now. i DO miss the beautiful Apple OS..... but the performance of the S3 is noticeably better. Why is Apple choosing to play behind their biggest competitor? I don't get why they didn't use this great opportunity to remind mobile users that not only are their products far more beautifully designed, but they can just as easily include the power that Samsung and other phones are including. Apple needs to step their game up... i want to switch back, but they need to show some more urgency in getting back to creating the BEST smartphone.

Like you I switched to Galaxy S3 a while age but switched back to iPhone only after about a week. I feel gave up more and gained less in switching to Samsung. I have ordered iPhone 5 although I am not 100 percent happy with it.
