Amazon Uses Its Homepage to Take Aim at the iPad Mini

Posted October 29, 2012 at 6:48am by iClarified
Amazon has placed an ad on its homepage that takes direct aim at the iPad mini and its $329 starting price.

A comparison table slanted towards the Kindle Fire sits below the following quote from Gizmodo.

"... your [Apple's] 7.9-inch tablet has far fewer pixels than the competing 7-inch tablets! You're cramming a worse screen in there, charging more, and accusing others of compromise? Ballsy."

The comparison table highlights the price and screen differences between the tablets. You can see that table below.

I hate the fact that apple could of made the mini way much better ,but they hold out on it just so they could add those extra better features and qualities on the next version, which will be out in a couple of months .

If you want to simply read on a smaller screen then get a Kindle with little amount of apps..If you want the ability to use the tablet for everything else and to include reading books, then get a stable Mini. Kindle Fire should get fired for trying to complete..people resells their Tab for the disappointment is eventual.

LOL way to go Amazon! As for Apple... Wake up and smell the fires. You're burning. Apple stock has dropped 14% in 28 days and its only the beginning of the nose dive. If you own APPL sell it. Sell it NOW!

It was a bad idea to release the Ipa mini without retina display, when you have iPhone, iPod, and Mac Book with HD display and in top of that with the highest price of the market.

to Jamie ... it makes sense because after all the hype and wait the Kindle Fire is a better product. Apple have lost the plot completely by not releasing the iPad mini with a retina screen. They lost the plot before that by changing the form factor of the iPod Nano (obviously back tracking on Steve Job's comment that someday everyone would wear one). Their pricing structure is also stupid for the iPad mini and if they are aiming to compete with the Kindle Fire (what other reason for an iPad Mini) then they are off the mark by several million miles. Don't get me wrong I am an Apple Fan, but this year (for the first time ever) I no longer feel the connection to the brand that I once did.

I am an avid apple fan. I own iphone 5, macbook pro, ipad 3. I have had all generation iphones and a couple of ipods at different times. What everyone needs to understand is that apple wants to make it more likely that people get into its ecosystem. Ipad mini will more likely be for first time ios users. For anybody who already owns the other apple products it does not make any sense to purchase unless you need a gadget bigger than an ipod and smaller than an ipad period. The only real advantage is access to itunes and ios apps. This is why apple released it, oh yeah while still making a profit unlike amazon.

I don't care what any manufacturer claims about there screen, but HD movies on a 7. Something inch screen is not a selling point. Minimum hd movies should be viewed on is 50". Bloody wankers

Have you never seen a non hd movie on a 32 inch screen compared to hd? HUGE difference. Also if definition doesn't matter, why does apple keep releasing things with retina displays? Nice double standard there, you don't need hd when apple doesn't provide it, but when they do you would do anything to get one

Only the weak feel the need to tear others down in order to lift themselves up. Apple doesn't need attack ads to sell their products. Apple product sell based own their own merits.

Apple been tearing down everyone else this lat year infect every decision Apple made including taking Samsung to curt makes Apple look like they are weak and afraid, also all the products that they came out with this year are disappointing, I love all my Apple devices but no wonder that everyone is looking forward for the new Microsoft devices with new inventions, Apple had no inventions this year only different sizes but nothing new!!!

$199 for trash. The iPad has 90% of web traffic.

Think about what you just wrote and see if it makes any sense. 90% of what? Of all web traffic? Of mobile devices? Seriously doubt it.
