Multiple sources have confirmed that the iPad mini does in fact have stereo speakers.

9to5Mac posts an email exchange with Phil Schiller.

Hi Mr. Schiller,

I understand the tech specs about iPad Mini online should cover everything, but the tech specs online neither confirm or deny the rumors of iPad Mini’s speakers being stereo. Is it possible to get confirmation from the man himself as to whether these are mono or stereo?

Thank you for contributing so much to technology.

Alex

It is stereo

The Verge's Joshua Topolsky also confirmed the feature.

People of Earth: Apple confirms iPad mini has STEREO SPEAKERS. As I note in my review.

Reviews of the iPad mini have recently been posted online. You can check out some of them here.

iPads always had stereo speakers. Why hasn't Apple ever pointed this out before?

They don't want to draw attention to the fact that their stereo speakers sound like crap!

@SkyNet. I am not an apple fanboy. I own products on multiple platforms. Let me know when you get a direct response from Steve B. or one of his top executives at Microsoft when you have a question.

How would you like me to show you the emails? I've exchanged some emails with Steve Sinofsky and that led MS to fix the dns errors some had with skydrive... how's that? Cook also replied but that's not the point... it's about you making people you don't know, idiots - just because they've dared to speak bad about your favorite company's ceo...

it seems like you have to brown nose to get them to respond.

He is a Sr. Executive of a company like Apple which is valued at over $600 billion and is busy running the company. Still he takes the time to reply to a consumer. What more do you want people? He gave the answer the consumer was looking for. He has more important things to do than to write a response which will please every idiot out there.
