Apple's Lightning to Micro USB Adapter is now available for purchase on the U.S. online Apple Store.

Use this adapter to connect an iPhone, iPad, or iPod with Lightning connector to a micro USB cable to sync and charge, or to a compatible micro USB charger to charge your device.

The adapter was previously available to Europeans only. It sells for $19.00.

I believe that the EU demands uniformity with Micro USB for all GMS devices, hence Apple's early release there.
