Belkin Announces First Official Third-Party Lightning Accessories

Belkin today announced that it will launch two new accessories designed for Apple’s Lightning connector, a hardwired car charger and Charge + Sync dock.

The new accessories are the first official third-party Lightning accessories available in market.

“Belkin was the first third-party manufacturer to develop accessories for the 30-pin connector back in 2003, and we are thrilled to be first to market again with solutions for the new Lightning connector,” said Martin Avila, general manager of Belkin’s core division. “People are eager for Lightning accessories and Belkin’s give them a reliable way to keep their new iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini or iPod touch charged, protected, and ready to go.”

Hate Belkin. They're products look very modern, but that's all that sells. Under the hood, the stuff are very flimsy and just cheap, at high prices. Pfff, go figure.

I would think most people would have a car-charger that has a USB port, then connecting your existing (or additional on for $20) iPhone-lightning port cable into the unit. Viola! No need to get a new car charger. Seems like this would be cheaper than buying a whole new cable for $30...
