I don't think you guys understand the patent here. It's for the name "iMessage". No txt message.

I'm so glad they invented messaging, I felt like the 20 years of device to device messaging was missing some sort of patent to make it real. Now I know. A bit coincidental that Apple were supposed to stop selling iMessage in September for exactly the thing they purchased the patent for: http://www.usitc.gov/press_room/news_release/2012/er0917kk3.htm

Samsung is granted a patent on its new messaging technology called eyeMessage. It allows free messegas to be sent between its galaxy line of smartphones, tablets and notebook computers for free. Samsung will continue to innovate as long as apple comes out with it first and Samsung is able to copy it and call it their own.

Did you just say that apple came up with it first? Ever heard of Blackberry Messenger? Apple steals, buys, or steals first then buys others ideas.

Apple is not innovation and Steve Jobs was not innovator. He copied all the technologies into one. Denis Ritchie was a innovator and gave us free Operating System which is used on all Apple Products. And people are paying for the free stuff and also they Admire for what they pay.

Good to see Apple being proactive enough to register their trademark beforehand instead of just suing other companies after the fact. Tons of info about how to protect your intellectual property is available at http://trademarkshop.ca
