Apple's U.S. Manufacturered Computer to be the Mac Pro?

Apple may be planning to manufacture the Mac Pro in the U.S.A. as part of a recently announced $100 million investment to bring some production back to the country.

Fortune's Philip Elmer-DeWitt notes that while Apple CEO Tim Cook didn't reveal which line would be moved back, there is really only one computer that fits the bill.

Here's his reasons:
● A factory of this size is estimated to produce about 1 million units per year.
● Only the Mac Pro and Mac mini sell fewer than 1 million units per year and the Mac Pro is considerably most expensive to ship due to its weight.
● Tim Cook and Apple PR have confirmed the Mac Pro will be updated next year.
● It will be easier to absorb higher labor costs with a $2,500-$3,800 Mac Pro than an iMac or a MacBook that can sell for closer to $1000.
● Mac Pros are easier to build and customize than any other Apple product

Just hope the price stays the same cos if it has to be shipped from usa to asia the shipping cost are very very high ... We might have to figure a 'new way' of getting the Mac book pro or just don't bother !

I configured this thing on Apple's website to my needs and liking and the price when revealed almost gave me a heart attack. $15,000 dollars the total came out to be with the specs I needed. I did the same build on a PC and It came out to $2,300 fully blown high spec box. Now on top of that, my PC box does NOT have proprietary parts like Apple has on all their computers. I can upgrade to what ever hardware I see fit and to my liking. Not being held back by Apple's restrictions on what hardware I can use or not use. And my PC box is 10x faster that the current Mac Pro specs that Apple restricts everyone to... So conclusion.!! Get a damn PC and do what YOU want to do how ever YOU want to do.. And save yourself a crap ton of money on top of that.

You forgot to mention that you can istall Mac OsX almost on any Pc nowdays, so what is the fuzz about having a Mac. By the way I'm running Win Xp, Win7 and Mac OSX lion in the same PC, Built by me. EVGA Classified SR-X 270-SE-W888-KR LGA 2011 Intel with 96gb of memory

Guess it only works being made in the usa if the price and quality and no strikes stays the same as overseas ... Doubtful

Most of them are already made in us they are called hackintoshes.

Damn right about that, I got my Hackintosh and running Win XP-Win7-OSX Lion, and for way less od the cost of a Mac.
