Apple Store Paris Robbed on New Year's Eve

The Apple Store in Paris, France was robbed on New Year's Eve of as much as one million euros worth of inventory, reports The Telegraph.

Masked men forced their way into a back entrance around 9pm, three hours after the store closed, as a janitor was leaving. The janitor was "lightly injured" in the process. Rather than snatching the iPhones, iPads and Macs on display, the thieves went straight for boxes of stocked material. Accomplices waited in a nearby, parked truck, in which the goods were loaded, and a successful getaway was made around 9:40pm. Four or five men are believed to be have been involved with the robbery.

Christophe Crepin of the French police union Unsa, said "they prepared their coup pretty well." Large boulevards near the store led to different parts of the city for an easy escape. Also, "since the essential bulk of police forces were mobilised to patrol the Champs-Elysées, the thieves clearly profited from the opportunity to make their move," said Crepin.

Notably, the robbery was successful despite a strong showing of police forces in the city due to New Year's Eve celebrations in areas like Champs-Elysées.

Read again, the article mentions, "Items on display" obviously they wanted packaged goods to resell. "Rather than snatching the iPhones, iPads and Macs on display, the thieves went straight for boxes of stocked material." The packaged stocked goods would have included iPhones, etc.

Hahhhaha...didn't they just open that store? I don't think this is going to work. Apple probably will have all the serial numbers ready to be traced. Blocking of IMEI's, which is done in Europe a lot, will trip up plenty of activation attempts. Oh man...
