Apple's iPhone Has Still Greatly Outsold Samsung Galaxy Smartphones [Chart]

Raymond James analyst Tavis McCourt has compiled the cumulative sales of the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5 and compared them to sales of the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Note smartphones, reports CNET.
"Although undoubtedly Samsung's Galaxy lineup has been tremendously successful, given the sudden negative sentiment related to iPhone, we thought it would be interesting to compare Galaxy sales vs. iPhone sales over the last two and a half years," said McCourt.
Overall, Apple outsold Samsung 219 million to 131 million. Check out the charts below for more data.
lol s2 and s3 have both outsold the iphone 5, only the 2 year old technology or the one with the 2 year old tech plus siri that has been out forever are in the lead.... I wonder if the .99 cent price tage for the ihone4 has anything to do with tremendous sales?
Umm, you can't get more recent history than Dec 2012 sales figures and that is what is shown in the graph.
What it shows is that the iPhone is still out-accelerating the Galaxy.
Also, the USA is actually the largest market for Android and iOS devices.
Flurry reports that the USA has the highest number of iOS and Android devices in the world with a massive 165 million active devices while China is the next largest with 128 million.
The third largest is the UK with a much smaller 31 million Android & iOS devices and every other nation is lower than that, so it is apparent that the USA and China are by far the most important nations on Earth when it comes to these post-PC platforms.
Now, what is happening in those two nations? Why Apple is ascendent that is what.
Kantar reports that the iPhone has now captured 53% smartphone marketshare in the USA (ComScore's recent numbers are installed base of subscribers, not new phone sales) and Apple sold 2 million iPhone 5's in China the first weekend which works out at twice the proportion per 3G subscriber as the USA.
Analasys International reports that the iPad had a massive 71% marketshare in China even before the release of the iPad mini and indications are that the iPad mini is selling like hotcakes worldwide.
I guess it just depends where you get your numbers from

You don't seem to understand that figures released by Apple or Samsung are of course more accurate (because they have to adhere to SEC regulations regarding disclosure) than guesstimates by analysts like IDC.
Samsung themselves have admitted they have only sold 100 million Galaxy smartphones since May 2010 while Apple has reported they have sold 220 million iPhones in that same timeframe.
IDC is of course the analytical firm that was severely embarrassed last year when they reported that Samsung had sold 2.3 million tablets in Q2 2012 only to have Samsung themselves report that they had only sold 37,000 tablets in the USA over that same timeframe in court documents.
So, whose figures are you going to believe again?

What on earth are you talking about?
Samsung themselves has said they have sold 100 million Galaxy smartphones since May 2010 and Apple has reported in their SEC filings that they sold 220 million iPhones over the same timeframe.
However, in your quote, it is IHS iSuppli who is saying that Samsung outsold Apple last year. Guess what, either it was all those millions of cheap and nasty featurephone replacement "smartphones" running Samsung's home-grown Badu OS that made up the difference or iSuppli has no idea what they are talking about.
Are you really going to trust analyst's guesstimates over the straight-out SEC-audited statements from the manufacturers Samsung and Apple themselves?

Forget 2 years back I would like to see last 1 year data I am sure Samsung would have beaten the ip. 2 years iphone share was much larger but last 1 year no way they would lead.
I love the ip so do my friends but a lot of them have shifted to s3 or note 2 for they were not excited on ip5. Surprisingly most think apple will loose in phone market
Oh, and btw, I do have a few friends who decided to try android and samsung since they were getting bored with apple!!! they didnt last more than 6 months!!! all of them are back to using good old reliable apple! :)
