Samsung is Developing New Shaped Pixel Layouts for Pixel Densities Over 440PPI?

Samsung is reportedly working to develop new hexagon and diamond shaped pixel layouts for its smartphone display panels which would allow resolutions over 440ppi, according to a DigiTimes report.

Its been rumored that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV might feature a large 4.99-inch 440ppi Full HD Super AMOLED display. This pixel density is difficult to achieve using the current side-by-side layout.

The panels are likely to be made via a LITI production process, and used in Samsung's reported Galaxy S4, which when released will likely have one of the highest resolution displays on the market, noted the sources.
