Starting March 3rd Best Buy Will Match Online Pricing

Posted February 16, 2013 at 6:50pm by iClarified
Starting on March 3rd, Best Buy will match online pricing to reduce showrooming and stay competitive against Amazon and other online retailers, reports Bloomberg.

The year-round policy, designed to end the practice known as “showrooming,” takes effect March 3, Matt Furman, a Best Buy spokesman, said today in a telephone interview. The electronics retailer also will reduce its merchandise return policy to 15 days from 30 days, he said.

“We are going to a low-price guarantee,” Furman said. “There is no doubt that this new policy ends showrooming for Best Buy customers.”

I bet they will only match big brand name online stores like amazon and sold and fullfilled by amazon products and not mom and pops sites that sell on amazon. Or other smaller online electronics retailers.

This is nothing new; they match their own prices on-line so it only made sense for them to start matching other on-Line retailers also. But I'm also a Premier Reward Zone member so I STILL get the 45 day return policy.

wrong, they do not match their own online prices.

Can't beat them, join them? Sometimes it's not the price you pay but the service and knowledge you get with whom you buy the products from.

True, I try things out all the time and if I like it I keep it, but if not I return it. I can see how that is a problem for them, but 15 days really is enough time to make a decision though. As for matching online pricing, what does that mean, because that is how I buy everything from Best Buy for the last couple of years, Just did it twice last week for memory cards. I am in Canada, so maybe this was not the norm for US stores? Maybe they mean a more open and aggressive policy because sometimes they are fussy about matching based on availability, etc... Strange announcement though for something that they already do, and is posted all over their stores...

Bestbuy in Canada has online price matching for last year. USA is just catching up.

Smart move because people just use the store to test products and then buy online
