Apple Chairman Talks About Life at the Company After Steve Jobs

Apple Chairman Arthur D. Levinson talks about life at the company after the passing of Steve Jobs in an interview at Stanford's Graduate School of Business, reports Fortune. His one word answer? 'Weird'.

"I'm still not to the point where I walk into that board room and don't miss Steve," said Levinson. "He was a one of a kind guy... The Steve Jobs that was in the public eye was not, for the most part, the Steve Jobs that I knew."

Notably, Levinson revealed that the board typically sees new products 6-18 months before they are released. If presented early enough, some board insights may be taken into account.


"The board is not there to define product specs," says Levinson. "It's there as a sounding board. It's there as a resource. And ultimately, the board is there to hire and fire the CEO." If it's a good board, which Levinson says many companies are without, then it won't get in the way of the CEO and executive team.
