Phil Schiller: Products That Run Google Android Are Inferior to the iPhone

Posted March 13, 2013 at 10:33pm by iClarified
Speaking with the WSJ, Apple SVP Phil Schiller said that products which run Google's Android operating system are inferior to the iPhone. Schiller's comments come just one day before Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S IV smartphone.

Apple's research shows that four times as many iPhone users switched from Android than to Android during the fourth quarter, according to Schiller. He also said that Android users are often running out of date operating systems and that the fragmentation of Android was "plain and simple"

"Android is often given a free replacement for a feature phone and the experience isn't as good as an iPhone," said Schiller. He feels that Android suffers in part because different elements come from different companies; whereas, Apple is responsible for all its hardware and software.

"When you take an Android device out of the box, you have to sign up to nine accounts with different vendors to get the experience iOS comes with," he said. "They don't work seamlessly together."

The 'iPhone 5S' is predicted for release this summer in order to compete with Samsung's new Galaxy S IV. It's rumored that the device has already entered production.

+1Billion ^ The HTC One is easily superior or at least the equivalent of Apple in terms of premium hardware. The current Android OS smokes my locked down crippled and limited iOS on all of my 5 iPhones purchased in the past.

I am happy you camp on the Droid side... however I would love to hear why you prefer the Google platform? Mini SD card slot? -- thats hardware. Larger screen? -- again hardware. A pen? -- lol hardware yet again. Android? -- its open? You are open to more Security troubles. You are open to more Viruses too. Your Phone DOES NOT upgrade its OS. WHY ON EARTH do you LOVE ANDROID? What is it you do personally with Android to make your life better... ? Open provides you with customizable screens? eye candy -- doesn't improve anyone experience or use. True multi-tasking? -- okay but it really sucks the multitasking on Droid. And with cheaper models of phones that run Droid... there just isn't enough ram included to manage apps well. The top Samsung Phone COSTS no different than Apples top Phone. try now to convince everyone... come on.

You can be a Android or Samsung fan. Do you think anybody will care about it on iClarified, an apple oriented forum ? You can also be a Justin Bieber fan... your music taste will match you taste for technology! ^.^ I'm not a fan, I'm a developer and I can tell you than the Xcode, IOS framework the Apple design approach if by far the best out here and it's not gonna change within the next few years! After the fact that people are fan or not we don't care! When in Asia (Japan or Chine) you will see crazy file of people waiting in line to buy an Apple product... there's a reason. Not only a marketing reason, they have had this product in their hands for a few seconds and they know it is far better than the htc/samsung/ 'iphone look like" plastic ones.

After iPhone 4 I switched to a Note 2 to try something new. Big mistake! The apps, even the popular ones like facebook, Flipboard and Jump Desktop crash, flicker and slow down to a stop when I try to just type a simple comment. The customization is really not all it's cracked up to be. Simple functions that make using an iPhone fun to use were very missed. Android is clumsy, unintuitive and a lot more limited than I expected out of something that is open source. I traded the Note 2 for the iPhone 5, jailbroke it and it is freakin awesome! I will never make the mistake of messing with Android again!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Galaxy S IV launch event with excitement. Not that I'm going to switch from my jailbroken iPhone 5 that I can customize to death better than I can my girlfriend's Galaxy S III. Speaking of that piece of shiit, she is starting to abhor it due to its continued horrid battery life, even after T-Mobile sent her another new battery for free. But I digress. What I'm looking for is the construction of the device. HTC has finally come up with a seriously sweet looking 5-inch Android phone that has full metal housing with front facing speakers. I need the Galaxy S IV to feel better in my hand than any previous Samsung phone. P.S.: I'm not hating on Samsung. I absolutely LOVE its 830/840 and 840 Pro SSD series! Samsung also innovated the hell out of an updated IPS technology called PLS, which is awesome! Which is why I don't understand why they put a crap AMOLED screen that you can't even see unless you're inside a building and when at full brightness, it is less than 50% of any iPhone made in recent years. Unacceptable. So...Samsung: Use your damn PLS tech on your phones and the screens will be AWESOME! Duuuuhj! Doooh!Duh dooh uhhh ererrrrrrrr ! DUUUUH!

Agreed. Hardly groundbreaking news that Apple SVP thinks Google's product is inferior to his own Company's. What did people expect him to say? Here's a scoop.. soon Google's SVP will come out in defense saying their product is better. OMG!! What a waste of time even bothering to highlight his comment.
