Apple to Triple Its Reseller Stores in India by 2015

Apple has decided to scale up its efforts in India and triple its exclusive reseller stores to around 200 by 2015, reports the India Economic times.

Franchisees, who did not wish to be named, told ET that they have been asked to scale up operations in the country as the Cupertino-based company plans to grow aggressively in the country. In addition to increasing the number of Apple exclusive stores, called Apple Premium Resellers, that are owned and managed by 17 franchisees, the company also plans to expand its presence in multi-brand stores, they said.

The plans were apparently discussed during a Mumbai visit by Apple's VP of Sales, Hugeues Asseman, last month. Recently the company launched a massive advertisement campaign in the country and started offering iPhones on equated monthly installment (EMI) scheme. "After the success of iPhone, Apple has finally realised that India is a big market and needs separate focus," said a Mumbai-based Apple franchisee.

While technically Apple could open its own stores in India, the government requires that 30% of goods sold be sourced from local vendors.

Good decision by Apple company..Stores should be increased & stores must also available in in more cities(including 2nd grade cities) across the India..iphone users are increasing in India day-by-day..Apple should provide good service to Indian customers like china, japan customers by increasing stores, by adding mostly speaking(crores of people) Indian Languages Hindi,Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi etc etc, & Apple maps must be improved fr India..Apple should open its own selling stores for providing better service to 130cr Indians..India is very big Consumers market, Apple should concentrate on this..
