iOS User Gains are Outpacing Android in the U.S. [Chart]

Asymco analyst Horace Dediu has posted some charts showing that iOS user gains have outpaced Android for the last four periods in the U.S. The data is from comScore whose last report indicated that Android dropped 2.0% in marketshare last quarter.

Dediu suggests the reason iOS is growing more rapidly may be due to three factors:
● Broader distribution with three out of four major operators carrying the phone
● Availability of three product variants with $0 starting prices.
● Increasing awareness and use of apps and content ecosystems due to network effects.

I decided to try Android for the first time with the Note 2 earlier this year. While the device was quite impressive, the OS and especially the apps were an embarassment to smartphones! In the long run open source is a stupid idea and not good when trying to use it for work.

You're right, the second chart shows that Android has more market share and it is growing faster than iphone. Since 2009, Android has been picking up the market shares lost by the others, most notably, Blackberry. The first chart also points to the fact that Android is gaining more installs than iphone. People either don't know how to read charts or they choose to ignore some charts.

Omg this is such a lie... Apple lives to pay for fake statistics. They feel it makes them look better giving false data to people. Their stocks are dropping like a rock and they will do anything to keep float.

I never understood why people who don't like Apple come to troll Apple themed sites. Apple had nothing to do with this. ComScore is a company that tracks user trends, independent from Apple and Google.
