Posted April 8, 2013 at 6:39pm by iClarified
The new iPhone carrier bundle update for T-Mobile that enables AWS LTE and additional features, is now available for download, according to TMONews.

Apple and T-Mobile have just now pushed the Carrier Bundle (ipcc) that enables T-Mobile LTE for the iPhone 5 (and just enables general service for all the other iPhones). If you have an iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5, this update will be available to you by going to the About Phone page in Settings.

A direct download to the iOS 6.1 ipcc is here.

I have an iPhone 4, and originally used the ultrasn0w unlock after jailbreaking to use my T-Mobile service when I first purchased it. I'm still on iOS 5.0.1, and would really like to upgrade to the new iOS 6x (whatever the new one is). Originally I had problems with the ultrasn0w, and switched to a GEVEY SIM unlock, which I currently use now. My question to any of the more experienced users is, considering all the current problems with the recent T-Mobile Carrier Bundle, what would be the safest & easiest way for me to upgrade my settings?? Should I do away with the GEVEY, and just download the T-Mobile software with my original SIM tray? Or should I just use a new jailbreak & unlock method to safely upgrade to iOS 6? I know this seems confusing, but I've just always been very skeptical to upgrade my iOS in fear of losing my baseband, and therefore, losing my jailbreak and/or unlock. Thank you very much to anyone that can give me sound advice for this dilemma. Seems like the T-Mobile Carrier Bundle has some kinks to work out, and will probably take a few more iterations to get everything right and functioning properly. Also, I have all my SHSH blobs saved in Cydia & TinyUmbrella, if that helps at all.

I succeed in downgrading my 4S carrier from tmobiles pushed update of 14.1 back to 14.0 tonight. It was a bit of a pain since downgrading removed my ability to modify my APN settings which basically removed all data service from my phone. To solve this tetherme APN settings is available on Cydia. Downloading this added the APN setting window back to my Cellular settings on my 4S. Also after adding the APN settings for T-mobile back into the phone, the old familiar hotspot button was back in the settings. Downgrading wasn't exactly simple but I can deal with 3G speed till they work this BS out. A dead battery by noon isn't worth a slight speed increase. Also the kids were not happy to see their iPods had no data in the car. PS the carrier bundle I found for my 4S was off my wifes iPhone 4, not 4S so they must be close enough to work.

I'm on 6.1.2 on my iPhone 5 (jailbroken) and the update always pops up, the only reason I tapped update was because my iPhone stoppe saying 4G and said 3G instead, still getting 4G speeds though but still annoying, so I updated to 14.1, I have mywi 6 too so just waiting til June when utah gets LTE and I can finally utilize my unlimited data:)

I have an iPhone 4S evasi0n jailbreak and unlocked on ios 6.0.1 and was wondering, will the update work for me? And, can I apply it via OTA or do I have to apply the ipcc through iTunes? I tried going to Settings>General>About and waited about 5min and nothing happened.

Geezes, this update just removed tethering. You just lost a customer T mobile.

The update does not remove Tethering, not sure why everyone keeps saying that it does, as long as you have tethering on your account (which all current accounts with T-Mobile include) just go to Settings>General>Cellular>Personal Hotspot. Hope that helps to clarify.

I think what they mean is the option under "Settings>General>Cellular>Personal Hotspot" is no longer available after the carrier update. Of course if you paid for the tethering service the Hotspot option will still be there. The iPhone original software (at&t version) came with stock tethering that allows you to turn your phone into a Hotspot. Of course At&t monitor this with their own software to track users who used this feature. Therefore, to use the feature you will have to pay for the service. However, with the new T-Mobile carrier update, they completely remove this option and make everyone who wants the feature to pay for it, or be on a plan that has tethering to enable the option. It's the easier way of limiting people who knows how to work around their security to enable tethering. Since T-mobile current security only redirects people to a web2go page and ask you to pay for the feature. (there are ways around this) In other word anyone who is on their 30 day $30 dollar unlimited data (up to 5gb 4g) and 100 minute will lose the tethering option if they update the carrier setting for now. Unless a new update is release to fix this issue. It's a low blow by T-mobile to not inform the customer of this removal prior to the updates. All they say in the package is that it will auto configure hot spot setting. It was a slick and trickery move. Thank god I didn't update it. The only true benefit to this update for iPhone 4 and 4s user is Visual Voicemail (you can manually configure the APN for cellular data and MMS). I can live without that for now as long as I have my hotspot option. And yes, your phone will show 4g (for 4s device) on the top left corner. But you're still only getting 3g speed because only iPhone 5 is capable of having true 4g speed. iPhone 4s is only a 3g iPhone, the 4 in the iPhone only represent that it's a 4th generation. :)

Actually you are wrong. The service profile disables tethering for current customers with grandfathered accounts that allowed tethering. My Wife has been using tethering via a series of handsets for more then a decade on t-mobile (yes, we remember when edge was an upgrade!) She is using an unlocked iPhone 5, which tethered fine through her account UNTIL the new service profile was pushed out. Now it says "contact t-mobile" Very annoying. Now I get to spend my time trying to undo the damage. Unfortunately for me her handset has the 6.1.3 update applied, so I can't even Jailbreak the phone. Painful. I have seen some people suggesting that restoring the iphone from Apple to 6.1.3 again might remove the service profile. Haven't tried that yet, but I might.

Great. Just lost my free hotspot. Now tmobile is saying I have to pay for it even though I've had it for free for YEARS. They're going to lose customers and the backlash is going to hurt worse than when they lost over 800,000 subscribers.

Yes. After installing this my phone's signal is very weak. It's only 2 or 3 bars. Did a speedtest download below 1M (WTF)

Ouch. Crazy stuff I should had leave it as it was. They have tried numerous times to get my picture text to work as I am not receiving those from non iPhone users they even transferred me to advanced tech support.

After messing around with the speedtest, I restored it back to the previous version with 3G speed. There is something wrong with this Carrier Bundle. It seems like Tmobile is trying to manipulate how much of data users can use. I am using the old unlimited 2G speed for $10/month, but it picks up 3G speed for free. I am happy with this already.

We have verified the ipcc update (14.1) works on iOS 5.x and up. For iOS versions less than 6.1.x, you will need to manually install the ipcc file by doing shift (option on Mac) + update and then navigate to your iPhone Carrier Update folder in iTunes. Make sure to select ipcc in the drop down instead of ipsw. No jailbreak required. This update will install correct data and mms settings, add my account shortcuts, as well as enable Visual Voice Mail. The new T-Mobile settings will work on any software (ultrasn0w) or IMEI unlocked (factory) iPhone. If you are a former AT&T subscriber, you can call the carrier for free unlock, if you are not, you can visit our site to get your iPhone unlocked at www.iProService.com/unlock.html. This is a day many of us have been waiting for years.

Got my T-mobile carrier updated on my Apple unlocked & Evasi0n jailbroken iPhone 4 running 6.1.2. Went to Settings>General>About & got a dialog asking me to install the update. I did did have to call T-mobile to make certain Visual Voicemail was active on my account. It wasn't. I was instructed to reboot my phone & did. vVoicemail interface on the iPhone is there, now may need to wait 2-4 hours for T-mobile servers to start pumping my voicemail to vVoicemail. It's all good!
