Google Hangouts App to Get SMS Integration

Google is planning to add SMS integration to their recently released Hangouts messaging app.

Hangouts brings one-on-one and group conversations to life with photos, emoji, and video calls for free.  Connect with friends across computers, phones and tablets.

Dori Storbeck, who works at Google, revealed the news on her Google+ page.


"yes, SMS integration is coming soon - it is one of our most requested features!"

Later, presumably after news outlets began reporting the announcement, she edited the post adding...

"EDIT: Oops! We actually have nothing to announce at this time. My apologies."
