Boxee, the company that is known for its set-top box that streams media to TVs has been reportedly purchased by Samsung $30 million. The news comes out of Israeli site The Marker.

There has been no confirmation on the deal yet, however the report claims that Samsung will continue to work with the 40 employees at Boxee. Samsung is expected to use the capabilities of Boxee in their smart TVs.

Originally Boxee started as a software company and launched the Boxee Box in 2010 in a partnership with D-Link.

Samsung is a fcking shit company.. killing the competition by buying them? Boxee is still relatively small but they have great products.. Samsung knows this so all they can do it either beat them fair and square by making decent products or just buy them to replace their devices with more shit.
