Microsoft to Drop the Price of Its Surface RT Tablets By $150?

Posted July 11, 2013 at 9:09pm by iClarified
Microsoft is planning to cut the price of its Surface RT tablets by $150 across the board, reports The Verge.

Microsoft's move to cut prices on its Surface RT tablets follow slow sales, and efforts to sell the devices elsewhere at lower rates. The software maker recently launched an education program to sell the Surface RT to schools at $199, and it has been clearing stock of its devices at its Tech-Ed and Worldwide Partner conferences recently.

The move also comes following hints that Microsoft dropped during its recent Worldwide Partner Conference that the tablets will soon see a refresh. It's expected that the Pro will get a Haswell processor and the RT could be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processor.

The Verge says Microsoft is also planning new accessories including a battery-equipped keyboard cover.

The rumored new pricing is as follows:
● Surface RT 32GB - $349.99
● Surface RT 64GB - $449.99
● Surface RT 32GB with Touch Cover - $449.99
● Surface RT 64GB with Touch Cover - $549.99

Why does the Surface Pro never get a discount? Standing by for a fire sale for the RT version. I'll take one at $50 with one Touch Cover keyboard, $75 for one with the keyboard that has actual keys, and $15 for one without a keyboard.
