Next Generation iPad to Reportedly Feature GF2 Touch Screen Technology

The next generation iPad will still have the same 2048 x 1536 resolution, however, sources say the device will have a slimmer bezel as well as GF2 touch screen technology --making the device thinner and lighter. The sources claim the touch panel technology will be supplied by TPK and GIS.

The sources also claimed LG, Samsung Display and Sharp will be supplying the retina displays for both the next generation iPad and iPad mini.

Apple is reportedly still choosing whether to use oxide TFT or LTPS backplane technology in its next-generation iPad mini. The sources said that Sharp is looking to provide Apple with Oxide TFT technology while LG and Samsung are leaning towards LTPS, as the Korea-based companies believe using oxide TFT does not result in significantly less power consumption.

Apple has reportedly had an internal debate on whether to use Retina display technology in the next generation iPad but is 'afraid' the device may take away many sales from the iPad.

Last April, KGI Securities Analyst also claimed that Apple will use GF2 technology in its iPad and iPad mini, making the iPad 15% thinner and 25% lighter.

Im curious why they think a digitizer will cause 25% of the weight difference.... Ive repaired hundreds of iPads and the digitizer AND glass dorsnt weigh nearly 25% of the total weight.

Its funny how people say samsung is shit, but yet again, Apple uses the displays from them. Im sure if Samsung had to make a tablet, they can make it 10000 times better then apple. But the choose not too.

Someday you will learn there is a difference between hardware and software. Just like cooking having a bit of ingredient doesn't mean you're going to have a great result
