Poll Finds Users Prefer iOS 7 Interface Elements Compared to iOS 6

Posted August 7, 2013 at 11:32pm by iClarified
A poll conducted by Polar found that users prefer user-interface elements of iOS 7 compared to iOS 6.

Please note that this poll did not compare the icons of the two iOS versions -- which is where a majority of the design criticism has derived from.

The poll compared various interface elements such as the default buttons, progress indicators, Notification center, keyboards, navigation bars, alerts and much more.

Overall, the poll found that iOS 7 received 72% preference while iOS 6 received 28% when it came down to the various elements of the UI.

Polar also conducted an iOS icon comparison where many of the iOS 7 icons were preferred over iOS 6. Settings, Camera, Game Center, Safari, and Siri icons were the only iOS 6 icons people preferred compared to iOS 7.

Then count me in the minority, because I do not like the icons in iOS 7. They are flat, like a bad 70s science fiction movie. I like texture, I like detail. When you put time into detail, it tells me that you care, when you give me flat icons... It tells me you are out of ideas on how to make things better and are trying to distract me with something ugly. If apple desires innovation, then innovate. Give me the ability to alter the interface icons, give me the ability to change the way it looks and feels. Empower me the user, give me the reason to like you, over the next dictator.

I've been beta testing since beta 1. Yes battery drain is a problem but that will be a wealth issues 1 diagnostics being collected 2 location services not tweaked 3 background refresh not tweaked And most importantly 4 ITS A BETA I do think that Apple do put some issues in there as well to deter everyday users from using betas. The look and feel of ios7 is what is keeping with iPhone. I am getting to the point where ios actually means I don't need to jailbrwak. I nearly moved before the i5 as wanted a larger screen and if the os didn't have a redesign I would have been off at end of contract. 6 and below are so dated ios 7 is really fresh and smooth to use. I am locked into the apple ecosystem with macs, time capsule, airport express, Apple TV and iPad but my main device is my phone so would be huge decision to change and ios7 has bought me back for another year.

In a years time. iOS 6 and under will seem old and outdated. People might be moaning and bitching about ios7 now but once they get used to it, they will never want to go back. As for the battery drain issue, it's a beta. All previous betas of iOS have been battery hogs. Almost makes u wonder if apple does it on purpose to deter hackers from removing the expiration and using any bugs in it to jailbreak.

Simply turn off location services for the weather app. It does an abnormal amount of location checks per day! You don't have to be using it at all and it is constantly checking. Also look at background refreshing options. Once you turn those off, battery improves 10 fold. I've gotten over 15hours use and over a 1day standby once you tweak the settings. And thats with push email and regular notifications, location services for photos and map apps etc. Not much compromising required beyond the Weather app!

Thats just BS. The interface looks ugly on iOS 7 and the battery drain is horrible, i'd rather stay on iOS 6 as it looks a lot cooler.

I like iOS 7 but iOS 6 was cool. Apple did keep that same look for long time. It was probably a good time to change there look. Hello 7 farewell 6,5,4,3,2,and 1. You will be missed :(
