Apple has revealed that 74% of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users are running iOS 7.

The company recently updated its App Store Distribution page to note 74% of devices are on iOS 7, 22% of devices are on iOS 6, and 6% of devices are using earlier firmware versions.

The number of devices was measured by the App Store during a 7‑day period ending December 1, 2013.

Notably, Chitika's recent estimates were quite close to the numbers Apple reported. Chitika said that iOS 7 usage rates had surpassed the 70% mark within North America and are on track to outpace iOS 6 adoption which reached 83% six months after its release.

The real question is how many of the users voluntarily went to IOS 7. We all know that since the introduction of IOS 7, users who bought a new phone or accidentally screwed up their older device have been forced to update to IOS 7. So these numbers mean nothing! IOS 6 forever!

If the numbers mean nothing then why would they be forced to this but not keep ios 6? It's wouldn't be a decission to switch because they can still repair the phone and keep the latest ios they currently use. Same thing for buying a new phone, they would just keep it along with whatever ios they want to use!

Here's a rumor I wish to make so people can see, I want apple to make the old apps, siri, web, etc. old looks from ios 6 and add them to ios 7 to people can switch between old looks new and old and have their combinations with this so anyone can have ios 7 the way they want it, it will take customization (more than apps) to a whole new level. Anyone know how I can rumor this?

Ios7 is good for new chips like iphone 5- 5s but its not at all good for below a6 chip its freaking slow in all devices . Apple should take care of its software growth by analysing the proper running of iphones , ipod and ipad which has the updates ios 7 but are not running as smooth as before so my point is whats the use of such software update if apple cant provide stability and fluidity of other older device let the device be in ios 6 not more than that . As we all know after steve jobs , tim cook is been worst in all this managment ..!! Hope someday apple will make there managemnt good .

Does this mean every device ever made? Or is this only devices capable of running iOS 7? Cause if its only of devices capable of iOS 7, then they are cheating on statistics.

iOS 7 is the best iOS ever made. Brilliant and easy to use. The new look made me return to iPhone as iOS 5 & 6 were boring me.
