Southwest Airlines has announced the availability iMessage on its flights for $2 a day.

Any Apple user that has iOS 5 or later with the iMessage feature pre-loaded on their device can take advantage of this option. Now you can stay powered up and connected to friends and family like you never left the ground. Don’t worry Android users, we’ll be showing you the LUV soon. Why should I pay for iMessage. iMessage is free and if it's free wifi then I don't get the xtra charge to use iMessage. I'll just stick to what I'm used to., put device in flight mode and watch what I brought. It's good to disconnect anyway.

nah ill pass, paid for wifi before on flights and wanted to watch moviebox or youtube guess what it didnt let me, you have to watch it on their server which has few selections, and couldnt surf the internet with my ipad. its like paying for a dlc that was already on the disc....(cough cough capcom)
