Samsung and TSMC will share orders for smaller next generation Apple A-series processors, according to a DigiTimes report.

Samsung is said to have signed a contract to produce the processors for 2015 using a 14/16nm FinFET process.

Samsung will use its 14nm FinFET process to manufacture a portion of the A-series chips for Apple's 2015 iPhone series, and the remainder of the chips will be built using TSMC's 16nm FinFET technology, the sources indicated. TSMC should land 60-70% of Apple's total 14/16nm chip orders, with the remaining 30-40% to be taken over by Samsung, the sources said.

The site also reports that TSMC will be the main foundry for the 20nm A-series chips that Apple will use in its 2014 devices. It's possible that TSMC and Samsung will equally share orders for the 2014 chips, according to their sources.
