Snowblower Shatters $450K Glass Pane at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store [Photos]

A snowblower has reportedly shattered a glass pane at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store.

In November 2011, the store was updated with 15 large glass panels replacing the 90 panels previously used. The cost of the renovation was reportedly $6.7 million. Some rough math puts the cost of one pane at $446,667.

Passersby say the store has not been closed because of the damage and it's unclear when Apple will be able to replace the glass.

If they never switched the glass from the original design (which was stupid imo) it would only be a shattered square. They better start using Gorilla Glass

Argument invalid, apple can't support themselves, they have insurance to replace it, though gorilla glass should be used on everything involving apple, phones, tablets, computers, the tv with display this year, and now stores.

Even with AppleCare+...replacing a cracked glass is not free. Just cheaper.

Nope, apple care won't cover it. The water sensor sticker was tripped. They might sue themselves to get it replaced.
