Steve Jobs' Lisa Mouse Recovered From 30-Year-Old Time Capsule

In 1983, Steve Jobs gave a talk at the Aspen International Design Conference discussing various technologies and used his Lisa mouse to navigate through the presentation. After the talk, Jobs and other conference attendees donated various items to a Time Capsule that would be buried as the 'Aspen Time Tube'

Jobs decided to donate the mouse he used during the presentation to the time capsule, and as a result, it became known as the 'Steve Jobs Time Capsule.' Organizers and attendees looked forward to one day excavating the Time Capsule, but unfortunately it was lost after a major landscaping project went underway near the burial location.

The National Geographic TV Show Diggers got together a group to track down and unearthed the time capsule in an Aspen field which was supposed to be dug up in 2000. They eventually found in last September.

"We just freaked out," George Wyant, one of the two "Diggers" co-hosts, told CNET last year about finding the tube. "We went crazy. Because I'd had a pit in my stomach all day, so it was like instant relief."

"When the end came off," "Diggers" co-host Tim Saylor told CNET at the time, "literally things just poured out. There must be literally thousands of things in there."
But pull out the many things inside -- including a six-pack of Balantine beer (in cans), a Moody Blues tape, and a Rubik's Cube -- they did. Fortunately, despite a strong mold stench that pervaded the time capsule, the mouse, and many other items, had been protected in plastic bags.

Diggers will air the Steve Jobs Time Capsule episode on February 25, but you can see the first look of the capsule below.
