Survey Finds Most iPhone Owners Have a 'Blind Loyalty' to Apple

Posted February 13, 2014 at 8:05pm by iClarified
A majority of iPhone owners admit to having a 'blind loyalty' to Apple, according to a recent survey of over 2,000 users by SIMOnlyContracts.co.uk. Over three fifths of respondents said they would always switch Apple's latest iPhone.

When asked why they would not consider an alternative phone 78% said they "couldn’t imagine having a different type of phone now" and 52% it was because they'd been "really impressed" with the iPhone.

The study also found that out of those questioned:
● 54% owned a previous version of the iPhone
● 37% bought a second iPhone because they were used to the interface.
● 28% said it seemed the best phone for them at the time of switching
● 25% said they switched because their friends and family had iPhones and they wanted iPhone specific features such as FaceTime
● 17% switched to iPhone from BlackBerry
● 14% switched to iPhone from Nokia
● 9% switched to iPhone from Samsung
● 4% switched to iPhone from HTC
● 2% switched to iPhone form Sony Ericsson

The iPhone 5 was the most popular handset in use with 52% of users having one. 29% of users had a 4 or 4S, 10% had an iPhone 5c or 5s, and 9% were still using a 3 or 3GS.

“It’s really interesting to discover this blind loyalty amongst iPhone users – they’ll no longer consider other mobile phones on the market, purely because they trust Apple and perhaps like being associated with the brand.", said Roshan Bholah, founder of SIMOnlyContracts.co.uk. “However, the old saying ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ could ring true here, as it’s clearly a case of them having a positive experience with the handset. It’s ultimately the loyalty all brands hope to achieve with their customers – old and new."

iPhone 5 (53%) vs iPhone 5s 5c(10%). This explains how useless current gen iPhone is. (Mine is 5 also)

The other phones are 37% because the total iPhones (63%) are whoever owns one because it's "most popular".

Who is this potty mouth then, if this was targeted to iPhone users, my comment points out how many own iPhone and how less everyone else is owning the others. FYI percentages were from here to compare.

It has a great resale value, people are most interested in buying a used iPhone over android, unless theyre planing on installing Linux on it :)

It's just a quality product. Simple as that. The processor in the 5S is ridiculous. Totally picked up a Powermac G5 for $65 yesterday totally off topic.

The sound of a comment gimmicking the newer iPhone is what's ridiculous.

I see tons of iphnes where I go, apparently it must be the way employees at apple store makes the customer feel like, this may be why.

Yes, your 72 year old neighbour is wiser, richer and way more experienced in life. He knows a good thing when he sees it and willing to pay top dollar for it. Can't fault that.

My friends & aunts own it, it's easy to use depending on how anyone sees it, even I own an iPhone.

It's just loyalty to an operating system that looks and works well. I tried an Andriod phone and went back the iphone cause I hated the Android OS. It's that simple.

I keep ios because I have so much money invested in the ecosystem: applications, games, movies, music. I think if I moved to anything other than an iphone I'd either have to re-buy much of it or do without. Sub-Zero Wins!!

Trust me iPhones usually keep their value, androids loose value more rapidly while the price for repair on their screens keeps very expensive. I tell you this by experience I repair both android and iPhones. Iphone screens are always cheaper.

Yes I totally agree with you, but I'm speaking about mac. I've just received my macbook from the AppleCare (to fix my broken screen) and I've already paid 1115€ (1390$) Which got me crazy, they told me first that the price for the whole assembly is 700€. But it's really annoying; I could bye a High-performance ultrabook or a macbook Air with a FHD monitor fir my broken macbook.

You paid $1400 to fix an old while you can buy a new one for the same price? That's called blind loyalty.
