Apple Looks to Automate iPhone Battery Production

Apple is planning to have the batteries for its iPhone manufactured on automated production lines starting this year, according to a DigiTimes report. The move will reduce the company's manpower demand and other vendors are expected to follow suit.

It has already automated production lines for its Mac Pro and iMac, notes the report:

Rising minimum wages, labor shortages, and high turnover rates are common in the manufacturing. With automated production lines, Apple could avoid some of these potential problems or move manufacturing wherever it likes.
