Fingerprint Scanners: Apple iPhone 5s vs. Samsung Galaxy S5 [Video]

Posted April 4, 2014 at 8:25pm by iClarified
Check out this new video from iCrackUriDevice com that compares the fingerprint scanner on the new Samsung Galaxy S5 to the Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5s.

The fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S5 requires a user to swipe his finger downwards over the Home button; whereas, the iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner will detect the touch of a finger on the Home button in any orientation.

The Galaxy S5 has yet to be released but pre-orders will ship out on April 8th ahead of the official April 11th release date.

Take a look at the video below for more details...

Nice comparison! Appreciate all the details and demos on each phone - I am sure that samsung is not going to be happy about it! iPhone 5s scanner better in real world use.

one question: why did he not put his finger turned sideways on the iphone the same way you did in the galaxy. why he not only used his fingertips on the iPhone the same way you did in the galaxy? The comparison clearly did not follow the same criteria

Activator can be set up to make a pinch on the Springboard lock your phone. the other tweak that he mentions in this demo is Virtual Home. that one allows you to simply lay your finger on the sensor to unlock the phone.

Is the scanner the only way to unlock the phone? Do i have to use the scanner to male it work? I dont think the fp scanner is a dealbreaker for me the better batterylife still has my curiosity.

Another reason why I'm not on the slower side that can't outpace iOS nor it's features.

Samsung is using the same technology IBM have been using for decades. I guess Apple patent their method so SamShame can't copy it.

Just proves once again how flawlessly Apple products work and others try it mimic. Thank goodness we have copyright laws to keep things secure.

No one have ever been able to create a finger scanner and implement it better than apple. As soon as I saw samsung's finger scanner I knew it would be an epic failed. The iPhone 5S scanner just works and almost flawlessly.
