Apple Now Allows 'Approved' Virtual Currencies in Apps

Apple has updated its App Store review guidelines to allow 'approved' virtual currencies, notes Reuters.

Section 11.17 of the App Store Review Guidelines now reads:

Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions

The company has yet to offer any information as to which virtual currencies are approved.

In the past, Apple has denied or asked apps to remove functionality relating to Bitcoin. While this update is promising, there is no indication that Apple has changed its policy on the virtual currency.
