Using Unauthorized Lightning Cables and Chargers Could Damage Your iPhone

Posted June 22, 2014 at 7:13pm by iClarified
Using unauthorized Lightning cables and third party chargers could damage a component on the iPhone's logic board called the U2 IC, reports menymyi. This IC controls the charge to the battery, runs the power to the sleep/wake button, controls the USB function and and regulates the charging to the power IC that charges the iPhone 5.

Symptoms of a damaged component include:
- Battery won’t charge beyond 1%
- iPhone automatically powers itself on
- when the battery is removed and the iPhone is placed on charge it does not boot to the Apple logo
- when the iPhone is put onto charge the screen stays blank and the iPhone remains lifeless

Authentic Apple equipment regulates voltage and current to a level that is safe for the components of your device. Charging with unauthorized chargers and cables may allow for a larger variance in voltage and current which then damages the U2 IC.

Another common reason for this is also charging your iPhone 5 from the cigarette lighter of your car. This does not regulate the voltage as well as the original AC adapter as the power is coming from the alternator. If you need to charge our iPhone or any electrical equipment in your car we would recommend a good quality inverter with your original charger and USB lead.

If you device suffers from the symptoms listed above, mendmyi offers a repair service for £66+VAT. It takes up to 5 working days to complete the repair.

I like to keep chargers and cords in lots of places. So for many many years with different devices and computers I have used the original as well as third party cords and adapters from China. My devices never seemed to suffer from their use. Let's face it, Apple replacements are over prices to say the least. Have had only a few small problems of these items not working but then I paid a small price for them and one or two were warrantied if I could not always find my receipt. I have one origina "OLD" apple adapter I still use with my computer and it does have a short in it now but still works if I move the cord in a certain way. I am upset with Apple (even though I am a loyal supporter) because they won't support equipment maybe after 3 -4 years and doen't even have needed accessories available which forces me to buy online third party. Or they change the software or the design making currently good working equipment harder to get needed accessoris for. They must think that the public wants to spend thousands of dollars every few years for a new computer, for example. Mine works find now after a new keyboard, new superdrive, new bigger hard drive and new battery (and Apple refused to sell me one because I was using a third party battery).Even if I paid for it and took it out of the store-no strings attached-they still refused and they don't sell it online anymore. So as long as itmy computer is doing well I'll buy third party equipment especially on sale to keep around b/c I am worried I won't be able to get it after a while. Of course they'll continue to upgrade the system to the point that my computer will be forced into obsolescence. They already did that with one of my printers, but I found a way around it.

What a frickin gimmick. My new iPhone and ipad out of the box, both from 2013 and not once have either lightning so gave up, creative cables. Ic was cheaply made to function perfect and so it did. It's call marketing, doing what you can that makes a good products. Apple wants that for their users which clearly explains the iPhone 6 finally coming out, but what would jobs do anyway? This is why we were waiting though, to finish work first, but anyway, fuck those gullable lies like you numb gits spew, you do what it takes to fool us in order to believe such cum shitting rants. Thank god these guy come and go and all it takes it a little troll bait for a little chance of trying to seek attention like it's their destiny. lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololoolololololololoolololololololololololololololololololololololololololo lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololoolololololololoololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololoolololololololoololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololoolololololololoololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololoolololololololoololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololoolololololololoololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

Not as idiotic as you! It's obvious Apple knows what they're doing, but in what way will they rip us off? There's AppleCare and sometimes cheaper prices, but never once in my life have I owned a lightning cable that damaged anything.

The app uses notifications to remind what's new on the app news or just tips.

Dude you can disable the notifications from settings. Every app on the iPhone does the same thing, but you can disable it.

@somebody - I know I can disable push notification but don't want to disable it. Its just that all this crappy news increases the chances of deletion.
