Apple Acquired BookLamp Startup Back in April for $10-$15 Million

Apple acquired BookLamp, the Idaho based startup that is the 'Pandora for books', back in April. A source close to the deal says Apple purchased the company for anywhere from $10 to $15 million. The service mysteriously disappeared back in April.

BookLamp's Book Genome Project was its most popular product, which would recommend books to users based on an analysis of the text and previous ratings of other books. Apple could implement BookLamp's technology to help improve iBooks with better search, recommendations and more.
At Apple's Q3 2014 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook noted the company has been aggressively acquiring companies in an effort to bring more talent to Apple.
Just recently, Amazon announced its own kindle unlimited subscription for $10 a month, which let customers access over 600,000 titles.
