The latest numbers from IDC show that iOS market share is declining worldwide as Android market share continues to grow.

Apple's market share slipped year-over-year to 11.7% last quarter while Android's market share increased to 84.7%. Apple sold 35.2 million phones last quarter, an increase of 4 million; whereas, Android sold 255.3 million phones, an increase of 64 million units.

That means there are now 7.25 Android phones sold for each iPhone.

Business Insider has created some charts to visualize this. You can see those below. It's important to remember that nearly 60% of Android phone sold are considered low-end devices that cost less than $200.

My Brother installed a game on his Droid only to find out later it was key logger. He did not do any banking on his phone but his Facebook profile got hacked. Pretty crappy of Google to let stuff like that slide on Google Play.

Found it easier to use iOS and had less crashes early on. But now both systems are equal but a bit more configurable with Android. The one thing I like more about iOS is that it plays well with apple hardware and for messaging. Also really like apple's App Store which is much better than Google Play and Windows Market. Once apple builds more versions of the iPhone the. They they will begin to gain more market share. One more thing is the support for iPhones and software is awesome. Much better than google support and updates.

Exactly, all it is just screen size, then they got the biggest upgrade in history judging from surveys and whoever planned to upgrade.

Both IOS and Android have their own strengths and weaknesses. It all comes down to personal preference. But the truth is, without competition like Google, Apple's will not be where they are; as competitions often bring out the best and force us to innovate. My last point is, if an open source system like Android is not around, then do you think Apple will still release more controls to developer for IOS 8. Personally I think not.

We all knew this all along, just that apple used to fake their numbers to make believe their iSheeps they are doing good. iPhone is going down...

IDC and Business Insider are very poor sources. Don't trust what I read in their articles. Rumours are that they have ties with Samsung.
