According to a new report from Re/code, Apple has considered pricing the iWatch at $400, with cheaper models planned.
Apple executives have discussed charging around $400 for the company’s new wearable device. Pricing has yet to be finalized for the forthcoming product, which is expected to begin shipping next year. Sources say consumers should expect a range of prices for different models including lower priced versions.
The report does note that it is still unclear whether or not Apple will announce a price for the product on September 9. Recent reports indicated that the watch would not ship until 2015. Just like the original iPhone, the product may not ship until months later in an effort to keep the device a secret before its reveal.
Lots of speculation has been around Apple's wearable device. We are still unsure of many of the features it will pack, but will be ready September 9 to see what Apple has up their sleeves.

$400 for a watch....a lot of people pay a heck of a lot more than that for just a watch, Tag Heuer, Rolex. And what other function to they offer other than the time and possibly the date?

If the watch can perform its functions and serve as a phone without any other devices then it's probably worth the price. If you still have to carry an iPhone then it's not worthwhile.

It will come with sensors for health and any exercise.

I don't know. The iWatch had best be pretty damn special at that price. If all it does it announce incoming calls or messages on the phone buzzing in your pocket, then that's a lot of money better spent elsewhere.

If they have accurate glucose monitoring feature without needle required, lot of people buy it for $400 or even more expensive.

Very confused. - August 30, 2014 at 11:05pm
I don't understand this sentence: "Just like the original iPhone, the product may not ship until months later in an effort to keep the device a secret before its reveal." How is announcing it in Sept. 2014 and shipping it in 2015 keeping it a secret until the reveal?!?

If they had started the mass production of the device before it is revealed on Sep 9, by now the parts would have been leaked. They just wanted to start the mass production after it is revealed. That would prolong the shipping over months after its reveal. That's what it means.

You must be an expert in your field to be able to predict whether a device which hasn't even been announced will be a failure...

Jimmy Kimmel did a skit where they showed people on the street a $20 Casio watch with an apple logo on it. Everyone went nuts and complemented the watch, but the joke was on them. "I want anything apple because it's so popular"
