You needed to be online to play it, and EA Games claimed that it was a technical reason why it could be played offline, but pirates proved that wrong when they enabled people to play offline.

Didn't the latest sim city fail? Like multiplayer network issues, game bugs etc? Did they fix it? Somehow whatever games EA manages, they manage to mess it up.
