T-Mobile CEO Predicts Carrier Will Overtake Sprint, Apple Watch Will Take Wearables Mainstream

T-Mobile CEO John Legere has posted his insights and predictions on the future of the wireless industry.

Legere says that the industry is just taking off and predicts that in 2015 T-Mobile will 'go toe-to-toe with Verizon’s network almost everywhere … and win', 'the competition will continue to bumble along', 'wearables and phablets will be the big device stories of 2015', he'll have 1.5 million to 2.0 million Twitter followers, DC will be busy on regulatory issues, MetroPCS will pull further ahead of the prepaid pack, and T-Mobile will 'bring Un-carrier to whole new groups of people.'

Amongst his many predictions there are a few notable points. First, Legere believes that the Apple Watch will take wearables mainstream.

Wearables and phablets will be the big device stories of 2015 (and maybe some connected cars!)
I love what Jawbone, Fitbit, Samsung, LG, Microsoft and others are doing in the wearables space. But we haven’t begun to see the potential of this category. It’s going to go from $1 to $20 billion in the next few years. And though we won’t see its full impact in 2015, I believe that the Apple Watch will mark the tipping point when wearables go from niche to mainstream

Second, Legere predicts that T-Mobile overtake Sprint to become the third largest wireless company in America by next year.

T-Mobile will - officially - become the No. 3 wireless company in America in 2015. This summer, I said we’d blow by Sprint by the end of 2014 to become the No. 3 wireless company in the US. They have been swinging the bat since I made that statement, so we won’t know where things stand until we get the final score after we both report Q4 earnings, but whether it is now – or soon – I’m telling you, it’s a done deal!

T-Mobile sells the future rather than the present. If I go with them, I'll pay in the future rather than in the present. They should change the company name to TSpotty "Where signals are spotty and you end up roaming in your own country"

TMobile over takin sprint? Does that really mean they are considered the bottom of the barrel when it comes to coverage? My wife had TMobile and it barely has enought coverages in California and definitely sucked in Vegas. TMobile plainly sucks.

They said they were going to rollout better coverage around the new year where every 2g tower becomes 4g. Glad they unveiled data stash compared to coverage less sprint. They barely have anything.

CEO has awaken, it's about to flick the switch on poor to better lte. I kept up with the chart and has slowly changed and gotten better. But pricing? How is it better? At family pricing is still 160 compared to 100 for tmobile, not only that, simple choice plan is 40 per month versus carriers that are 90 monthly.

Hay Nat: You keep waiting for that signal homeboy! I have a neighbor who's family is on TMobile and they literal have to step outside or walk a few feet away from their house to get any signal. You get what you pay for...

What signal? They mentioned by beginning 2015 but it's not that I am waiting for anything from them. I got what I need to be satisfied.

No coverage? I'm with At&t and with FAN account I have 20 off+ I can upgrade my phone every 2 years and lower price. I pay 12 dollars more for a grandfather plan. Of course, I don't have low rate international roaming and sms. I don't have Vowifi and volte in my area. BUT: I have excellent coverage outside city and on the highways. I tried t-mo, very spotty coverage. They cove 300M population, but people don't live and parks and highways.
