AT&T today announced the "first U.S. smartcase of its kind" that can help you connect Wi-Fi only models of the iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini to AT&T's 4G LTE network.

With the Modio smartcase, users can connect their iPad to AT&T's 4G LTE network when they're on the go. Mobile Share users can use their shared data, and AT&T says the Modio Data application can monitor data usage.

The Modio smartcase also comes with a microSD slot that provides up to 32GB of storage for files and other media. Additionally, the case includes its own 4600 mAh battery to provide up to 10 hours of internet connectivity.

“The AT&T Modio smartcase gives you the freedom and convenience to connect your Wi-Fi only tablet to AT&T’s blazing fast 4G LTE network,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device Marketing and Developer Services – AT&T Mobility. “Secure and easy to set up and use, AT&T is proud to deliver you another industry first, enabling you to stay connected at home or while on-the-go.”

The AT&T Modio smart case is listed as "coming soon" on AT&T's website. Exact pricing and launch date remain unknown.
