iPod Shuffle Ship Times and Supply Fall Behind

iPod Shuffle ship times and supplies have mysteriously slipped over the past few days, raising questions for the devices future. Supply for Apple's cheapest iPod has been almost non-existent in stores, and Apple has instructed employees that the device will be short for an "an unspecified period of time."

Customers seeking to buy an iPod Shuffle through Apple's retail store will be directed to Apple's Online store; however, even online ship times have slipped to 7-10 days. Apple previously shipped the device in 24 hours.

The reason for the sudden shortage in supply remains unknown, and while Apple discontinued the iPod Classic last year, we're not sure the iPod Shuffle is about to die just yet. It could be possible that Apple has seen a sudden shortage of component parts for the iPod Shuffle, or it ran into a minor manufacturing snafu.
