Samsung Developing Galaxy S6 With Two-Edge Displays?

Posted January 19, 2015 at 9:32pm by iClarified
Samsung is reportedly developing a Galaxy S6 smartphone with a two-edge display. Similar to how the Galaxy Note Edge was a variant of the Galaxy Note 4, the new smartphone will a variant of the S6, says SamMobile.

The 'S6 Edge' will apparently run the same panel-based system that was designed for the Note Edge.

The software feature set of the Galaxy S6 Edge is very similar to the one found on the Note Edge. However, Samsung did throw in some new features to make the S6 Edge a little unique. First of all, you will have the ability to activate the main edge panel on the right or left curve, depending on your primary hand. Then there’s Glance Lighting, which will light up the Edge area when you receive a call or notifications, when you turn your device over. Also, you will have an option to choose favorite contacts and an ability to assign specific colours to them. So, calls and notifications from important people will show the designated color lighting on the edge area.

The site claims it will be leaking additional details about the device over the coming weeks. The Galaxy S6 will likely be a main competitor to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. You can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

There's no practical use of this invention. With so much screen property on today's phones, why do we need to hide notifications on the side of the screen?

This is right up there with a curved TV. WTF. No benefit just hinders practical use

what "potential"? What purpose does it serve, better yet what is so "new" something we got rid of on tv's even serve just reviving them on phones?

To me, it's useless unless it's actually bendable even if the phone were to, but it just limits the way you're allowed to hold it, just basically it.
