iOS 8 Adoption Increases 3% to 72% Following the Release of iOS 8.1.3 [Chart]

Apple has announced that iOS 8 adoption has reached 72% as measured by the App Store on February 2nd. That's an increase of 3% from January 19th when Apple last measured the number.

The 3% increase isn't huge but it's better than the 1% increase Apple measured in beginning of January. A contributing factor to the bump may have been the recently released iOS 8.1.3 software update which doesn't require as much free space to install.

Whoopty-do! That means 3% more of us will get frustrated by this current iOS.

Just curious but why do they care about this statistic? Even 3% is so small yet they announce a 3% rise?

It matters to developers. A major complaint on Android phones is 'fragmentation,' where there are a large number of different OS's in current use. As a result, developers need to support all of those OS's in their app. If most users have upgrade to the most current iOS, then programming is much easier.

will never happen, they need keep selling new ones to feed their famillies, sadly i had to sell my 4s after upgrade to ios8 it became so slow, it was taking like 5 minutes to open email. On ios7 it was not a bad phone actually despite stupid looking case, 3gs and 3g were best looking designs

If they would release iOS 8.1.3 for IPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 and also iPod touch 3 and 4, then that percentage would go up
