iPhone 6 Plus Generates Twice the Data of iPhone 6 [Chart]

iPhone 6 Plus owners use twice the data of iPhone 6 owners and ten times the data of iPhone 3GS owners, according to a new study from Citrix.

iPhone 6 Plus subscribers generate the most data volume, double that of an iPhone 6. This increase impacts subscribers when choosing a new device – be careful to select a data plan that matches your super-sized screen.

Clearly the phablet sized iPhone 6 Plus shows data usage patterns more akin to tablet usage. For mobile operators, this increase provides an opportunity to shift subscriber Wi-Fi usage towards mobile networks

Part of this increased data usage may come from the larger screen; however, it could also be attributed to usage patterns more typical of a tablet. ie more video consumption etc.

Take a look at the chart below to see the data usage of the last eight iPhone models compared.

Except it's too big to fit in most pockets and feel too much for a phone trying to use it for one hand.

that begs the question, can it outpace competition?

3gs? Yeah, I wonder how it stands out against Nokia 3310.

yeah I'd like to see those numbers too, even though I doubt they'll be of much use in the platform wars. it used to be that Android owners used a tiny fraction of the data per device that iPhone users were burning through. I always chalked that up to the people who were too cheap/stupid to buy an iPhone were also too stupid to internet. now of course I see more people who actually know how to use their Android devices and I'm extremely happy as I don't have to show them how to find the Google Play store as often.
