Facebook Messenger Gets Updated With iOS 8 Share Extension

Posted February 24, 2015 at 6:20pm by iClarified
Facebook Messenger has been updated with an iOS 8 Share Extension that makes it easy to share photos, videos, and links directly with Messenger from within other iOS apps.

Instantly reach the people in your life—for free. Messenger is just like texting, but you don't have to pay for every message (it works with your data plan).

Features:
● Not just for Facebook friends: Message people in your phone book and just enter a phone number to add a new contact.
● Group chats: Create groups for the people you message most. Name them, set group photos and keep them all in one place.
● Photos and videos: Shoot videos and snap selfies or other photos right from the app and send them with one tap.
● Free calls: Talk as long as you want, even with people in other countries. (Calls are free over Wi-Fi. Otherwise, standard data charges apply.)

What's New In This Version:
While using other apps on iOS 8, you can now tap the share button to easily share photos, videos and links directly with Messenger.

You can download Facebook Messenger from the App Store for free.

I wish they bring this same functionality to what's app... We tend to use what's app more than messenger !

Hey JR, thanks for wriitng. Yes, Movistar appears to charge an exorbitant rate for data service on a prepaid SIM. I'm back in Spain now and just burned through €40 with just a little bit of emailing and checking Google Reader, both very data-light services. In fact I see now that I used less than 20MB all up, which means they charge something a little over €2/MB.
